Remember, you are still breathing.

The quote of the day is

"Rebuild with a grateful heart. You may have lost a house, but you did not lose your home. Remember, you are still breathing."(p.95)

[The Noticer: Sometimes, All a Person Needs Is a Little Perspective.] by Andy Andrews

You may be in a serious situation because of the earthquakes and tsunami, and you may be mentally exhausted. The situation has not changed, but it is important to know that you can change the way you think about the situation.

You may have lost a house, but you are breathing.
You may have lost a business, but you did not lose your customer.
You may have lost water and gas, but you did not lose electric power.

If you think of what you lost, you will be sad.
If you think of what you have, you can be hopeful.

I hope we will have made a step forward in improving self confidence which can be obtained by that way of thinking.

If you want to write some Histories, you must also lie and invent tales.

The quote of the day is

"If you want to become a man of letters and perhaps write some Histories one day , you must also lie and invent tales, otherwise your History would become monotonous."(p.59)

It is important for us to learn our Japanese history. As we understand our history, we can think and decide how to do as Japanese and how Japan will be.

You must also understand it is difficult to know our real histories, when you read history books. The governor wrote histories as they wanted in Japan and other countries similarly.

Nobody knows the flow of funding of any environmental advocacy groups

The quote of the day is

Nobody knows the flow of funding of any environmental advocacy groups. The government set to ease the restriction for the activity of funds and advocacy groups. There are no audits and inspections of books."(p.277)

The US environmental advocacy groups remaind me the attacks of Sea Shepherd and Greenpeace etc., radical environmental groups. The large environmental advocacy groups funds large amount of donation in US, some of the groups carry out a violent attack.

They use arms to achieve all they desire. It seems like the crusade propaganda and ideology.

I heard that, Hideki Matsui "Godzilla" said as follows in the interview.
There are posters on the bench and the wall at a baseball field in Seiryo high school.
"Thoughts go forth in action; actions form habits; habits decide character; and character fixes our destiny.""

Hearing this quote, I was convinced that thoughts make everything. The people who think everything is right are right, people who think everything is wrong are right. This is caused by the way of thinking. Thoughts make a difference in action, and the action change the results differently.

Japanese Nuclear Power station availability is about 60%

The quote of the day is

"The availability of 55 Unit Japanese Nuclear Power station (49,470MW) is about 60% according to the database of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.--- The availability of Nuclear station in France and in the USA Nuclear advanced country is about 90%." (p131)

[Society to unperceive danger](Youtarou Hatamura)

Why are Japanese Nuclear Power stations forced outage ratio 4 times larger than that of other countries. One of the reasons is that Kashiwazaki Nuclear Power station(6,400MW) was recently stopped by the big earthquake, and another reasons are Nuclear Power Station is easily stopped by a minor incidents, a long recovery time, and a fixed long duration of overhaul maintenance.

Government officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry stay in all Nuclear Power stations and they are monitoring activities of the electric company. That makes us confident, but causes the availability worse.

It is a big problem that it cost over million dollars to stop a nuclear power station for a day because fossil fuel-burning stations use more expensive fuel to recover.

Memorise vocabulary words in sentences

The quote of the day is

"I recommend you learn English vocabulary words in sentences, not memorise words individually. Learn English with this study method for reading comprehension and the memorising technique using etymology.(p55)"

[English study method for people over 20 who are learning English  ](Hiroyuki Hal Shibata)

I memorised English vocabulary words when I start to study English in junior high school. It is because I have no English vocabulary words in my brain.

If you want to be able to use English better and better, it is necesary to understand how to use a word in certain situations, and how to use the thesaurus.

If you learn English vocabulary words in sentences, you would understand the sense in which an English word or phrase is used.

A cup of rice costs 20 cents

The quote of the day is

"A cup of rice costs 20 cents. A riceball sold at a convenience store is expensive"(p108)

([The excellent power of the Lunch box] Takeshi Sato)

5 kg Rice sold at a supermarket costs 20 dollars. So 1 kg rice costs 4 dollars.

A cup of rice is 60g, so that a cup of rice costs 20 cents.

Japanese have begun to eat bread because of the Occupation policy of USA and Japanese have bread for school lunches.

I believe Japanese people should eat more rice and that would resolve the problem of food self-sufficiency in Japan.
