The quote of the day is
"The availability of 55 Unit Japanese Nuclear Power station (49,470MW) is about 60% according to the database of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.--- The availability of Nuclear station in France and in the USA Nuclear advanced country is about 90%." (p131)
[Society to unperceive danger](Youtarou Hatamura)
Why are Japanese Nuclear Power stations forced outage ratio 4 times larger than that of other countries. One of the reasons is that Kashiwazaki Nuclear Power station(6,400MW) was recently stopped by the big earthquake, and another reasons are Nuclear Power Station is easily stopped by a minor incidents, a long recovery time, and a fixed long duration of overhaul maintenance.
Government officials from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry stay in all Nuclear Power stations and they are monitoring activities of the electric company. That makes us confident, but causes the availability worse.
It is a big problem that it cost over million dollars to stop a nuclear power station for a day because fossil fuel-burning stations use more expensive fuel to recover.

Memorise vocabulary words in sentences
The quote of the day is
"I recommend you learn English vocabulary words in sentences, not memorise words individually. Learn English with this study method for reading comprehension and the memorising technique using etymology.(p55)"
[English study method for people over 20 who are learning English ](Hiroyuki Hal Shibata)
I memorised English vocabulary words when I start to study English in junior high school. It is because I have no English vocabulary words in my brain.
If you want to be able to use English better and better, it is necesary to understand how to use a word in certain situations, and how to use the thesaurus.
If you learn English vocabulary words in sentences, you would understand the sense in which an English word or phrase is used.

A cup of rice costs 20 cents
The quote of the day is
"A cup of rice costs 20 cents. A riceball sold at a convenience store is expensive"(p108)
([The excellent power of the Lunch box] Takeshi Sato)
5 kg Rice sold at a supermarket costs 20 dollars. So 1 kg rice costs 4 dollars.
A cup of rice is 60g, so that a cup of rice costs 20 cents.
Japanese have begun to eat bread because of the Occupation policy of USA and Japanese have bread for school lunches.
I believe Japanese people should eat more rice and that would resolve the problem of food self-sufficiency in Japan.

Good price to pay for a car is ones monthly salary
The quote of the day is
"Good price to pay for a car is ones monthly salary."(p108)
([Manual for the cost saving] Nozomu Hayashi)
I know the three manths' salary is often spend on a bride's diamond engagement ring, but how about a car. Mr.Hayashi insist on a good price to pay for a car is ones monthly salary.
It is depends on his values for the car. He want to say that it is silly to buy more expensive car than ones his years' salary.
